Helen M. Janssen, 98, a South Scranton resident, died Sunday , December 2, 2007 in Mercy Hospice Unit of Mercy Hospital.  She was the widow of Andrew Janssen, Sr. who died February 19, 2002.  Born in North Scranton, daughter of the late James and Anastasia Corish Anglin;she attended Holy Rosary School and was a member of Nativity Of Our  Lord Church.  She was a member of Nativity Altar and Rosary Society, Nativity Golden Age, Holy Rosary Senior Citizens Club, DCCW, Ancient Order Of Hiberians and Echo Club.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother and friend whose strong faith and selflessness will be a legacy to all who knew and loved her. 

Survivng are three daughters Mary Zelsnack and husband Martin and Ann Janssen, both of Scranton and Helen Sklanka and husband Edward, Conklin, NY, two sons Andrew Jr., Scranton and William and wife Joann, Dunmore, also 10 grandchildren, 11 greatgrandchildren and several  nieces and nephews.  She was also preceeded in death by 12 sisters and brothers. 

The funeral will be Wednesday at 9 AM from the August J. Haas Funeral Hone, Inc., 202 Pittston Ave, with Mass at 9:30 AM in Nativity Of Our Lord Church, to be celebrated by Msgr. Josephine Rose Neri Mela, 75, a lifelong South Scranton resident, died Friday, November 30, 2007, at home after a curageous battle with cancer.  She was the widow of Nello Mela who died October 6, 1986.  Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Benedetto and Alda Pagnani Neri. 

She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, class of 1949 and was a member of St. Francis Of Assisi Church.  She retired from the University Of Scranton May 30, 1997.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend whose strong faith and selflessness will be a legacy to all who knew and loved her. 

Surviving are sons Joseph Mela and wife Donna, Madison Twp., and Ronald Mela and wife Barbara, Springbrook Twp., grandchildren Alyssa and Breanna Mela, Nathan Patel and Brooke Miller, two aunts, Virginia Pagnani, CT., and Evelyn Pagnani, FL., and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and cousins.

Jean R. Skaluba, a South Scranton resident, died Tuesday morning, November 27, 2007, in CMC after an illness.  She and her husband, Constant F. Skaluba, were married in May, 1950.  Born in Scranton on February 11, 1922, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Edwards DeMuth. 

She was a graduate of St. Mary Of The Assumption High School, Class of 1940.  Jean attended Marywood College and The University Of Scranton where she met Constant.  She was a lifelong member of St. Mary Of The Assumption Church and belonged to the Altar And Rosary Society as well as the North Scranton Rotary Annes.  Jean's Generosity to many charities and friends was known throughout the community.  Jean worked at the Lackawanna County Courthouse until she married. 

Jean raised four children and enjoyed seeing them as much as possible once they left home.  She enjoyed cooking and was a trmendously skilled baker.  She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother and was extremely generous to many charities and groups. Also surviving are  a brother, Msgr. George R. DeMuth, Pastor Emeritus of St. Mary Of The Assumption Church, Scranton, and a sister Marion Kelly and husband James, Venice, FL., three sons John Skaluba and wife Roseanne, Dickson City, Curt Skaluba and wife Kathleen, Leesburg, VA., and George Skaluba and wife Pam, Manassas, VA., and a daughter Jane Skaluba and husband Joseph Reed, Mansfield, OH.  She is also survivied by eight grandchildren.  Also surviving are  Sisters-in-law Ceil Killian and husband John, Arlington, VA.and Elizabeth Birkeland, Scranton, two brothers-in-law Robert J. Skaluba and Fred Skaluba, Scranton. 

The funeral will be Friday at 9:30 AM from the August J. Haas Funeral Home, Inc., 202 Pittston Ave., with Mass at 10 AM in St. Mary Of The Assumption Church to be concelebrated by her brother Msgr. George R.  DeMuth and Msgr. John J. Palumbo

John J. Palumbo, 94, a former resident of South Scranton, died Monday, November 19, 2007 in St. Mary's Villa, Elmhurst.  He was preceeded in death by his wife of 62 years, the former Helen Srudotto.  Born in South Side, he was the son of the late noted contractor Salvatore Palumbo and wife Josephine Abatti Palumbo.  John was a well known construction contractor and was the president of J.J. Palumbo Contractor, Inc., which he founded over 60 years ago.  He was a graduate of St. Thomas High School and attended St. Thomas College and Nazareth Hall Academy.  He was a member of St. Francis Of Assisi Church and was an Army Veteran of WWll.  He was a member of the Dante Literary Society. 

Surviving are nieces and nephews.  He was also preceeded in death by four sisters; Mary Cupple, Josephine Capitano, Nancy Notari and Teresa Moran and three brothers; Salvatore Palumbo, Jr. , Sherwood Palumbo and Frank Palumbo. 

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 AM in St. Francis Of Assisi Church, 630 Genet St. 18505, by Msgr. Philip A. Michael Vincent McGrath

Michael Vincent McGrath, a resident of Scott Twp. died Saturday, November 10, 2007 at home.  He was the husband of Margaret Pierson McGrath and the couple was married for 58 years.  Born in Jersey City, NJ,, he was the son of the late Daniel and Josephine Huff McGrath.

He attended Fordham University with an accelerated graduation due to a call to service for WWll.  He was a decorated lieutenant of the Army Air Corps: The 324th Fighter Group serving in the North African and European Theatres piloting P47s.  Michael grew up in New York City and was employeed for 37 years at the Fidelity and Deposit Company of Baltimore, where he met his wife.  He retired to his home and family in Conneticut in 1983 and cared for his grandchildren, and provided them a supplimental education unobtainable in the school system.  He was an active participant of Our Lady Of Grace Church in Bantam, Ct.  He and his wife moved into the home of his sons in Pennsylvania in 1996 and he embraced beautiful Pennsylvania from that moment.  In all this time, he was a power of example for almost 50 years to other recovering individuals.  He was a devoted husband and died peacefully at home with his family present.  He was a source of joy and laughter to all who knew him.  The family would like to express their gratitude to the VNA Hospice(CMC Scranton) of Lackawanna County and particularly to Amy Fulkerson, who made him a part of her family and gave us the gift of more time with him.  They provided support and encouragement to the family and showed the real meaning of care.  Originally a patient four years ago(Marion Community Hospital) he was so rejuvinated by their care enough to be discharged and to maintain the highest quality of life.  In the last four years, he enjoyed hours sitting outside by the pool with his family and friends telling stories and singing old songs.  He relished car rides anywhere and everywhere.  In his recent, final experience in hospice, he was given the opportunity to spend his final days in great comfort, dignity and love in the embrace of his family and the incredible team at VNA.   He was a communicant of Corpus Christi Church, Montdale  

Also surviving are three daughters: Margaret McGrath, Justus, Patricia McPhee, Chittenden, VT., and Virginia Doherty, Morris, CT., and two sons Vincent, Justus and Daniel, Montrose, four grandchildren Daniel and Michael Lefebvre, Ghislane Hockensmith and Jacqueline Turro and two greatgranchildren Alexa and Ryan McPhee.  Also a brother Edward McGrath, NY.  He was also preceeded in death by two brothers Lawrence and John and a sister Catherine Schweitzer.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 AM in Corpus Christi Church, Montdale, by Rev. William Flynn, Pastor.  

Memorial services are being planned for later in the year when friends and family can celebrate his life and their memories of Michael.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice and Palliative Care Of Lackawanna County. 301 Delaware Ave. Olyphant, Pa. 18447. 

Harold George Weber, Sr.

Harold George Weber, Sr., 93, of Clarkesville, GA., a former Scranton resident, Died September 24, 2007.  Born in Scranton on July 18, 1914, he was the son of the late Otto and Sarah Elizabeth Berberich Weber.  He was preceeded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Irene Bostick Weber on Jan. 28, 2005.  A WWll veteran, he served in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division in the European Theatre and fought in the Battle Of The Bulge.  He was discharged from the Army in January, 1946, having achieved the rank of first lieutenant.  Mr. Weber persued a career in the field of electronics and retired from the Federal Aviation Administration.  He was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church and was an active volunteer at the Habersham County Medical Center nursing home.  He was a kind, gentle and loving man who "knew no stranger".  He lived his life to the fullest, serving God and the needs of his fellow man.  His precious smile, cheerful manner and encouraging words will be missed by all whose lives he has touched.  His love and concern for others knew no boundaries.  His tender and tireless care for his beloved wife in her time of illness gave definition to both love and devotion to those who witnessed.  He was the man that God asks that we all be.  He gave so much to so many and asked for so little in return. 

Surviving is a daughter Sarah Smith and husband Leo, three sons: Harold and wife Marie, Jacksonville, FL., Joseph E. and James D. Weber, Athens,  two sisters Ida Kalinich and Adeline Pizer, both of Scranton, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  He was also preceeded in death by four brothers Otto, Joseph, Henry, Bill and four sisters Helen Weber, Margaret Longo, Marion Deprimo and Dorothy Mushinski.  A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Mark Catholic Church by his nephew Rev. Joseph Weber and concelebrant Rev. Abel Guerrero.   Interment Yonah Memorial Gardens.

Willard (Bill) Graham

Willard (Bill) Graham, a South Scranton resident, died Sunday, October 14, 2007 in CMC after a brief illness.  He was the husband of the former Dolores Cutri and the couple was married for 51 years.  Born in Taylor, he was the son of the late Willard and Dorothy Reese Graham.  He was a graduate of Taylor High School and was a Korean War Veteran, serving in Germany with the Military Police,  He was a retired employee of Ryan's Service Station and attended Nativity Of Our Lord Church .  He was an avid sports fan and loved the Yankees and Pittsburgh Steelers. 

Also surviving is a sister Margaret Hurchick, Scranton, and nieces and nephews.

Angelina Eisenhart

Angelina ( Jean ) Eisenhart, 88, a South Scranton resident died Monday, October 8, 2007 at home.  She was the widow of the late Harold ( Hap) Eisenhart who died in 1979.  Born in the Green Ridge section of Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Vellella Del Prete.  She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and was Salutorian of her graduating class.  She was employed by various businesses including Spotless Cleaners and Telespond before retirement at age 83.  She was a member of Nativity Of Our Lord Church, Ladies Of The Elks, South Scranton After 50 Club, Nativity Golden Age, CMC Auxiliary and the South Side Senior Center.  She loved her children and grandchildren dearly, she loved to volunteer babysitting, liked to mend clothes, to shop, and go out. 

Surviving are grandchildren Lisa and Melissa Simon, Jessup, Colleen and Jason Eisenhart, Scranton, greatgrandchildren Winter Eisenhart and Adriel Pauley, Sisiters Margaret Caterino, Scranton, Helen Reissen and husband Hank, East Stroudsburg, Brother Anthony Del Prete and wife Betty, Allentown and nieces and nephews. 

She was also preceeded in death by two sons Harold (Hap) and Robert Eisenhart and a daughter Mary Ann Simon, a grandson Donald Eisenhart, a brother Ralph Del Prete and a sister Catherine Bradey.

Sam Matthew Bennie Bowden, 92, a Scranton resident, died Sunday, September 23, 2007 in Golden Living Center, Scranton.  Born in Wayne County, NC, he was the son of the late Frank and Oamelia Saykes Bowden.  He was born on the family farm and resided in Washington, DC, Philadelphia, and New York City before residing in Scranton.  He was employed as a cook for a long time before becoming a plumber and concrete finisher.  He helped to construct Yankee Stadium.  He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

  Surviving are three sons; Windell, NC., Jerry Gardenerville, NV., Floyd, Miss.  and two daughters; Mary Frances Settles and Jacqueline Bowden, both of NYC. many grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He was preceeded in death by six brothers; Rev. Joseph, Willie, Litman, Frank John, Raymond and James "Taft" Bowden.  Also by three sisters Oriole and Amelia Bowden and Estelle Kelsey. 

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 7 PM in the August J. Haas Funeral Home, Inc., 202 Pittston Ave , officiating will be his grandson, Minister John R. Bowden.  Interment Sykes and Cromes Family Cemetery, Goldsboro, NC.  Friends may call Wednesday at the funeral home from 6 to 8 PM.

Beggane, 87, a Scranton resident, died Wednesday, September 19, 2007 in Mercy Hospital.  He was the husband of the late Ann Ruggerio Beggane who died June 13, 1993.  Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John and Beatrice Gillespie Beggane.  He was a member of Nativity Of Our Lord Church, was an Army Vertran of World War 11 and was a retired employee of Tobyhanna Army Depot.  He was a loving and caring father and was always there in time of need.  He will be deeply missed. 

Surviving is a son Patrick Beggane and wife Lori, Carbondale and a daughter Roseann Gordner, Benton, two grandsons David Waltermyer Jr. and Michael Waltermyer and four greatgrandchildren Nathan, Nicholas, Darien and Jade Waltermyer, a brother John Beggane, Ocean City NJ and nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was also preceeded in death by two brothers Leo and Eugene Beggane.

Claire Spathelf, 83, a Scranton resident, died Saturday, September 15, 2007.  She was the widow of Christian W. Spathelf who died in 1967.  Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Agnes Durkin Palmer.  She was a graduate of St. John The Evangelist High School and was a member of Nativity Of Our Lord Church.  She was formerly employed as an Administrative Assistant for Teamsters Union Local 229.  Claire died Saturday morning at the home of her daughter after a short but courageous  battle with cancer, surrounded by her extended family and friends. 

The family wishes to extend their thanks to VNA Hospice, Dr. Lori Williams, and special thanks to Dr. Don Preate, Jr. for his kind and compassionate care. Surviving is a daughter Claire Festa, Scranton, a son Christopher Spathelf, Laurel, Md., four granddaughters; Carrie Giannone and husband Tony, Bridget Festa, Stephanie Festa and companion Jeff Bentler and Tracy Murphy Langan and husband Saul.  Also four greatgrandchildren; Nikki Giannone and companion Justin Beers, Sierra and Gia Festa and Saul Langan, and a greatgreatgrandson Gavin Beers.  Also two sisters Mary Dougherty and Ann King, both of Scranton, a sister-in-law and best friend Kathleen Palmer, Perkasie, Pa, nieces and nephews and cousins.  She was also preceeded in death by a brother Francis Palmer.

Rose Stritt, 78, a South Scranton resident, died Monday, September 17, 2007, in Newseasons, Clarks Summit.  She was the widow of Carl A. Stritt who died Feb. 19, 2000.  Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Kalkus Dippre.  She was a member of Sacred Hearts Church and was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, Class of 1947.  She was employed by Acme Supermarkets for 20 years and then worked with her late husband at Scranton Professional Insurance.  She loved to go out to eat .  She was a member of her class reunion committee and enjoyed all her friends.  She enjoyed her grandchildren.

Surviving is a daughter Jean Rybnick and husband Joseph, Scranton,  a grandson Joseph Rybnick 111 and fiance Bonnie Taylor, 4 granddaughters; Danielle and Stacey Rybnick, Christina Komora and husband, Brian, and Angela Phillips and husband, James, three greatgrandchildren Ethan Komora, and Maggie and Hanah Philiips., also nieces and nephews.  She was also preceeded in death by a brother, Gerald Dippre.

Nealon who died in 1974.  Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Manley Michaely.  She was a member of Nativity Of Our Lord Church.  She was a soft spoken, caring and compassionate gentle woman who loved to spend time with her family and always put her family first.   She enjoyed church bingo.  She will be deeply missed. 

Surviving are two sons Francis and John, both of Scranton and two daughters Judy Dombroski, Scranton and Patricia Leonard, Taylor, a sister Ann Suchnicki, Scranton, 7 grandchildren and 3 greatgrandchildren and nieces and nephews.  She was also preceeded in death by two brothers John and William Michaely.

George J. Castanzo, DDS, a South Scranton resident, died Friday, August 17, 2007 in St. Mary's Villa Nursing Home after a long illness.  He was the husband of Marjorie Brock Castanzo and the couple was married for 55 years. 

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late George and Mildred Lula Castanzo.  He was a member of St. Mary Of The Assumption Church and was a WWll Army veteran.  He was self employed as a dentist from 1955 until his retirement in 2001.  He was a graduate of Scranton Central High School , The University Of Scranton and recieved his Doctor Of Dental Surgery from Temple University in 1955.  He was a member of  American Dental Assn., PA. Dental Assn., Pierre Fauchard Academy, Academy Of General Dentistry, American Society of Dentistry For Children, and was on Staff of Mercy Hospital.  He was past president of the Scranton Dental Society and the Third District Dental Society.   He was past delegate to the Pa. Dental Convention and was past chairman of Third District Peer Review Committee, Scranton Patient Relations Committee and the State Professional Liason Committee.He was formerly the Riverside Shool District Dentist and was a past member of the International College Of Dentistry and was a volunteer for dentistry for the Jewish Federation.  He was also a past member of Visiting Nurse Asso. and past coodinator for the Lackawanna United Fund.  

The family wishes to especially thank the staff of St. Mary's Villa Nursing Home for the loving and special care given to George.   Also surviving are four sons; James, Lancaster, Paul, Westchester, George and Michael, Scranton, and three daughters; Kathy Annacarto, Moscow, Christine Castanzo, Scranton and Marie Taylor, Taylor; four grandchildren: George, Robert, Alex and Gina Castanzo, nieces and nephews.  He was preceeded in death by a daughter Marjorie A. Waibel and a brother Robert.    A memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary Of The Assumption Church, River St., on Saturday at 9:30 AM by Msgr. Esther Pricci

Esther Pricci, 92, a South Scranton resident, died Saturday, August 11,2007 at CMC after a lengthy illness.  She was the widow of Angelo Pricci who died in 1974.  Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Grace Doria Palmasani.  She was educated in Scranton Schools and was a homemaker.  In her earlier years she worked at the Pricci family grocery store.  She was a member of St. Francis Of Assisi Church and it's Altar and Rosary Society.  She was a member of the 20th Ward Social and Athletic Club.  Her hobbies were gardening, making ceramics, cooking and sewing.  She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and love for family and friends. 

The family would like to thank her caretaker Erin Williamson for all the tender care given to Esther, and to her family physician, Dr. Frank Milani.

Surviving is her daughter Elaine Aita and husband Jim, Scranton: three brothers Santa, Scranton, Michael, Endicott, NY., Thomas, Rainsville, AL., two sisters: Lena Bartocci, Spring Hill, FL., and Josephine Cascio, Scranton.  Also surviving are two granddaughters Charlene Krzan and husband Clarence and Renee Pricci, one greatgranddaughter Maura Krzan, cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was preceeded in death by a son Frank Pricci, brothers Rev. Anthony Palmasani, Martin Palmasani and sisters Mary Ann and Anna Palmasani. 

The funeral will be Thursday at 9 AM from the August J. Haas Funeral Home, Inc., 202 Pittston Ave., with Mass at 9:30 AM in St. Francis Of Assisi Church to be celebrated by Msgr. Philip A. Gray, Pastor.  Interment Italian-American Cemetery, Minooka Section.

Joseph Colangelo, a South Scranton resident, died Thursday, August 9, 2007 at home.  He was the husband of the former Delores Pilotti and the couple was married for 55 years.  Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Ralph and Lavinia Laurenti Colangelo.  He was a member of the Court St. United Methodist Church.  He was a member of the Simpson United Methodist Church since he was a young boy and served as a member of it's Administrative Board until it's closure.  He was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and was formerly employed by the A&P for 14 years.  He retired from Wrightnours Inc. after 45 years.  He was an Army Veteran of WWll.  He was a loving husband and will be deeply missed. 

Also surviving are nieces and nephews and cousins.  He was preceeded in death by a sister, Grace Moffat. 

The funeral will be Monday in the August J. Haas Funeral Home, Inc., 202 Pittston Ave. with services at 1:30 PM, officiating will be Rev. Kenneth Bitler, Pastor of Dunmore United Methodist Church, covering for Court St. United Methodist Church.  Interment Cathedral Cemetery.  Friends may call from 12:30 to 1:30 at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice, 746 Jefferson Ave.

Loretta M. Dwyer Sr

Loretta M. Dwyer Sr., a South Scranton resident, died Wednesday, August 8, 2007 in Mercy Hospice.  She was the widow of the late Emmett Dwyer who died January 22, 2000.  Born December 31, 1913 in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late John and Ephigenia  Scholl Bour.  She resided for many years in Springfield, Mass. before returning to Scranton.  She was a member of St. Mary Of The Assumption Church.  She was greatly loved by all who knew her. 

Surviving is a daughter Loretta Dwyer, SND. with whom she resided, two sons Robert E. Canton, GA. and Martin J., Scranton, a sister Marita Ritter, Scranton, two granddaughters: Dr. Kathy Stack and Laura Dwyer and three greatgrandchildren; Shauna, Garrett and Daniel Stack, nieces and nephews.  She was also preceeded in death by a brother Joseph, infant brother John, and three sisters; Agatha Neville, Bernadette Kiesnoski and Evelyn McAloon.

Joseph ( Chuck) Eiden

Joseph ( Chuck) Eiden, a resident of Moosic, died Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at home after an illness. He was the husband of Eileen Moran Eiden and the couple was marred June 30, 2006. Born June 29, 1957 in Scranton, he was the son of Paul Eiden, Scranton and the late Audrey Gratkowski Ledbetter.

He was a member of St. Mary Of The Assumption Church, Scranton and he was a self employed floor covering installer. The family wishes to thank Southern Care Hospice for the compassionate care rendered.

Joseph Trama

Joseph Trama, a South Scranton resident, died Sunday, August 5, 2007, in Mountainview Care Center.  He was preceeded in death by his wife, Norma Rinaldoni Trama on April 17, 2000.  Born in Hazelton, he was the son of the late John and Josephine Laurito Trama.  He was a member of St. Francis Of Assisi Church and was a long time member of the Dante Literary Society.  Prior to retirement, he was employed as a sheetmetal worker at Tobyhanna Army Depot.  He was a World War ll veteran serving with the 306 Bomb Group, 368 Bomb Squadron of the Army 8th Air Force, based in England.  He was a member of VFW 3451, Rabiega Gorgol Post, the William Malia Chapter DAV and American Legion Post 920.  He was a loving brother and uncle who enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews and was a loyal Yankees fan.

Surviving is a brother  Frank, Daytona Beach, Fl. and nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.  He was also preceeded in death by a sister, Florence Mancus and two brothers Neil and Louis.

Robert A. Eisenhart

Robert A. Eisenhart, 63, a South Scranton resident, died Thursday, August 2, 2007, at home.  Born in Scranton, he was the son of Angelina Del Prete Eisenhart, with whom he resided, and the late Harold ( Hap ) Eisenhart.  He was a member of Nativity Of Our Lord Church and was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School with High Honors.  He was employed various places including Lackawanna County Van Service until he became disabled.  He was an avid reader, hunter and fisherman who loved nature.  He was a devoted son and loved his family. 

Also surviving are nieces and nephews.  He was preceeded in death by a brother Harold (Hap) Eisenhart and a sister Mary Ann Simon and a nephew Donald Eisenhart. 

The funeral will be Monday at 9 AM from the August J. Haas Funeral Home, Inc., 202 Pittston Ave. with Mass at 9:30 AM in Nativity Of Our Lord Church to be celebrated by Msgr. Velia V. Bisciaio

Velia V. Bisciaio, 82, a South Scranton resident, died Saturday, July 21, 2007 in Mountain View Care Center.  Born in Scranton on December 18, 1924,  she was the daughter of the late Victor Bisciaio and the late Angelina Gatti Bisciaio Dal Pizzol.  She was a 1943 graduate of Scranton Technical High School.  Prior to retirement, she was employed by Consolodated Moulded Products Corporation and was a member of the International Association of Machinists. 

Surviving are a brother, Arnold and wife Anna, Scranton: a niece, a nephew and cousins.  She was also preceeded in death by her Stepfather, Peter Dal Pizzol. 

The funeral will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Albert L. (Rick) Antoniacci

Albert L. (Rick) Antoniacci, 94, a South Scranton resident, Died Saturday, July 21, 2007 in CMC.  He was the husband of the late Mary Wencoski Antoniacci who died July 7, 1992.  Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Cesare and Angelina Cianchetti Antoniacci.  He was a member of St. Francis Of Assisi Church. Born and raised in Scranton, he was employed by H. B. Sproul Construction Co. for 42 years.  He was associated with Connell Park Little League for 27 years, helping to maintain it's field in South Scranton.  Earlier in life he served a tour of duty with the Civilian Conservation Corps in it's Forestry Service in Marienville, Pa.  He was a WWll Navy Veteran serving in the Armed Guards aboard the SS Marine Raven from 1943 to 1945.  He was a member of American Legion Post 207 and formerly was a member of the 20th Ward Social and Athletic Club. 

Surviving are two brothers Cesare Antoniacci, Livingston, NJ. and Carl Balducci, Audubon, NJ. and nieces and nephews.  He was also preceeded in death by a son Albert Jr., and two brothers Gino and Frank Antoniacci.

Jule H. Igoe, 80, a South Scranton resident, died Saturday, July 21, 2007, in VNA Hospice at CMC.  She was the wife of John (Jack) Igoe and the couple celebrated their 49 Wedding Anniversary on July 12.  Born and raised in Westport, County Mayo, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Laurence and Bridget Langan Conway.  She was a member of Nativity Of Our Lord Church and it's former Altar and Rosary Society.  Jule worked for many years including at the General Electric Corp. in Minooka and The Cigar Factory of Scranton.  She was a loving wife, mother and sister and a devoted friend to many.  She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Also surviving is a son John Jr. (Sean), Moscow, three sisters; Christine Farrell, Lady Lake, FL., Teresa O'Malley, Westport, Ireland and Veronica Francis, Cheshire, England and several nieces and nephews.  She was also preceeded in death by a brother Josie Conway, three sisters Bridie Reidy and Nano Moore and Mary Keane.

Michael J. Lunney, a South Scranton resident, died July 7, 2007 in Moses Taylor Hospital shortly after admission. He was the husband of the former Marie K. Kelly. Born in Minooka, he was the son of the late Michael J. and Mary Thornton Lunney. He was a graduate of Minooka High School and was a member of Nativity Of Our Lord Church. He was a retired employee of Bell Telephone with 33 years of service. After retirement he was employed by the Scranton Public Library. He was an army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post 948, The Bell Telephone Pioneers and the Nativity Social Club. He was an avid reader and a passionate sports fan.

Also surviving is a son Michael W. Lunney, Dunmore and a daughter Susan Webster and husband Andrew, Alabaster, AL., and two grandchildren; Bridgette Webster and Ellyn Webster, a sister Nancy Dunleavy, Wharton, NJ. and nieces and nephews. He was also preceeded in death by a brother Joseph Lunney.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday, July 12 at 10 AM in Nativity Of Our Lord Church to be celebrated by Msgr. Michael Delaney, Pastor. Inurnment, Cathedral Cemetery. Ruth M. McIntyre

Ruth M. McIntyre, 81, a South Scranton resident, died Monday afternoon, June 25, 2007, in VNA Hospice at Moses Taylor Hospital. She was preceeded in death by her first husband Leslie Cooper who was killed in action in WWII, and by her second husband, Edward J. McIntyre.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Andres Straub. She was a member of St. Mary of The Assumption Church and it's Altar and Rosary Society. She was a loving mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother, a wonderful neighbor who always put others ahead of herself. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially her daughter, Debra, with whom Ruth spent all her time shopping at Kmart and going out to lunch. She will also be missed by her best friend, Babygirl, her loving cat.

Surviving are three sons; Barry Cooper and wife Regina, Richmond VA., Edward J. McIntyre, Jr. and wife Barbara, Scranton, and James McIntyre, and wife Brenda, Springville, PA., a daughter primary caregiver, Debra Ann Belardi and husband Robert, Scranton. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren; Robert J. Belardi, Jr., Edward J. McIntrye III, and wife Pamela, Brianne and James McIntyre, Alfred Fariole and wife Amy, and Ashley Fariole, and one greatgrandson, Brennan McIntyre who called his great grandmother, GiGi. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Gussie McIntyre, Bethlehem, and nieces and nephews and greatnieces and greatnephews. She was preceeded in death by two brothers, Robert and Elmer Straub and a sister Eleanor Straub.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary of The Assumption Church by Msgr. Dale Rupert, Pastor, on July 7, 2007 at 9:30 AM. There will be no calling hours but the family will recieve friends at the church. Ruth E. Ambrosini

Ruth E. Ambrosini 88 years old, passed away Monday June 25, 2007 at Woodview Assisted Living in Mays Landing. Born in Scranton, PA, daughter of the late Issac and Martha Fisk, she lived in Scranton for 41 years. She moved from Scranton to Philadelphia in 1960, with her late husband, John R. Ambrosini, Sr. and her son John R. Ambrosini Jr. Her husband of 52 years, John R. Ambrosini, Sr. died on September 27, 1992. Ruth converted to Catholicism and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church for many years prior to moving to Philadephia. While in Scranton, she also worked many years for Capital Records Club. She was also employeed in Philadelphia as a cashier in Shop n' Bag prior to retiring with her late husband in Hammonton, NJ, where she was a memeber of St. Joesph's Catholic Church and the Elm Towne and Winslow Twp. Senior Citizens.

She is survived by her son, John R. Ambrosini, Jr. of Egg Harbor Twp, NJ her granddaughter Denise Stevens of Newark, Delaware and grandson John R. Ambrosini III of Rosemont PA. She was affectionately known as (Me-Mom) by both grandchildren.

Surviving in Scranton are her brother in law Milton Ackerman, sister in law Mary Fisk and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Friday morning 9:00-10:30 at August J. Haas Funeral Home 202 Pittston Ave, Scranton PA. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church with Celebrant Rev. David Cappelloni, her grand nephew. Entombmment Italian-Amerian Cemetery Mausoleum.

Louis A. Ambrosini, 88, a former South Scranton resident, died Saturday evening, June 23, 2007, in Valley Crest Nursing Home, Plains Twp..  He was the husband of the late Eleanor Bokon Ambrosini and the couple was married for 54 years. 

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Albert and Sylvia Notari Ambrosini.  He was a member of St. Francis Of Assisi Church, was a retired employee of Mckinney Manufacturing and was a Navy Veteran of WWll.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter, enjoyed dancing and playing cards and was a New York Yankees fan.  He was a loving father and grandfather and will be deeply missed. 

The family wishes to extend their thanks to Hospice Of The Sacred Heart for their compassionate care.  Surviving is a daughter Karen Malachowski Catalano, Jessup, four grandchildren; Jamie, Michael, Jr., Kristie and Nicholas, and nieces and nephews.  He was also preceeded in death by three brothers; Alfred, John and Joseph and two sisters; Marguerite Coccia and Anita Cappelloni.

Verna Collins Casarello.  Verna J. Casarello, 75, Ocala FL., a former Scranton resident, died Monday, June 4, 2007, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer, in Legacy House Hospice, Ocala, Fl.  Her husband is Sam Casarello. 

Born in Exeter, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Anna Marstel Cerulli.  She was a member of Queen of Peace Church ands it's " Beads" group., Ocala, and was a former member of St. Francis Of Assisi Church, Scranton.  She was a graduate of Pittston schools. She was employed by Glascow Apparel and American Can Co., and retired as an administrative assistant from Florida Power Corp.  She was a member of the National Secretaries  Assoc..  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed.  She enjoyed reading biographies. geneology and communicationg with friends and family on the internet. 

Also surviving are a son; Robert Collins and wife Sandy, Springbrook Twp., a grandson Dr. Jason Collins, Springbrook Twp., two brothers; Arthur Nocera, Plains, and Ernest Cerulli, Shennandoah Valley, Va., one sister Marie Elliot, Berwick and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceeded in death by four brothers; Anthony Cerulli and Daniel Cerulli and Joseph Nocera and Michael Nocera, a sister Eleanor Winsock and her first husband John Collins, who died in 1972.

Theresa M. (Tess) Brier, RN. , 81, a South Scranton resident, died Monday, June 4, 2007 in Moses Taylor Hospital.  She was the widow of Edward J. Brier who died March 10, 2005, the couple was married 57 years.  Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Julia Caprio Lucchi. 

She was a member of Nativity Of Our Lord Church, was a graduate of Mercy School Of Nursing , Class of 1947.  She was a retired employee of Mercy Hospital.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother and will be deeply missed.  She enjoyed her trips to Atlantic City with her family. 

Surviving are a son; E. Donald Brier and wife Theresa, Dunmore, a daughter; Judie Brier, with whom she resided, a granddaughter; Melissa Baer and husband, Jeff, Scranton, Step Granddaughter Leanne Supiniski, Step great grandchildren; Rachael, Jake & Sarah Supiniski and two greatgranddaughters; Julia and Madaline Baer, a sister, Antoinette Sensi, Moosic, nieces and nephews.  She was preceeded in death by a brother, Carl Lucchi.

Barbini.  He was a former member of Nativity Of Our Lord Church and formerly was employed by North American Manufacturing.  Also surviving is his companion, Helen Harmer, three daughters; Danielle Gowarty, Angela and Ashley Barbini, all of Scranton, a grandson Jacob Ford ,a brother Robert, Scranton and aunts, uncles and nieces and nephews.  A graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 29 at Cathedral Cemetery, officiating, Msgr. Rita Patricia Rinkunas

Rita Patricia Rinkunas, a resident of Dunmore Health Care Center, Dunmore and lifelong resident of Taylor, died Saturday, May 19, 2007.  She is survivied by her husband, Joseph Rinkunas who resides in Taylor.  She was born December 1, 1927, in Scranton, the daughter of the late William J. and Catherine Wizbauskas Pasco.  She was raised in North Scranton and graduated from North Scranton Technical High School.  On July 10, 1954 she and Joe married and created a life together.  They were blessed with two children.  Rita's main devotion was always her family and husband.  She also enjoyed many years working with her daughter at Gail Ann's Fine Jewelry.  Rita was known for friendliness and love of life.  She especially had a zest for having fun and displayed it with her vibrant dancing and fondness to travel.  Her greatest pride in life was her three grandchildren.  Her warmth and compassion were always present and will be missed by all.  As she enters into eternal rest with the Lord, she was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Lithuanian Church in North Scranton.  She will be sadly missed by her husband, Joseph, daughter Gail Ann and husband Jonathan Budziak, Olyphant, son Joseph Jr. and wife Carmina with their children Jarret Joseph, Erik Ryan, and Marina Rose, all of Clarks Summit. 

Also surviving is a sister Marion Magela, Scranton and brother Anthony Pasco and wife Jane, Rialto, CA.  along with several nieces and nephews.  She was preceeded in death by a sister Dorothy and brother William Pasco.  The funeral will be Tuesday at 8:15 AM from the August J. Antoinette M. Crolly

Antoinette M. Crolly, a South Scranton resident, died Thursday evening, May 17, 2007, in Mountainview Care Center. 

She was the widow of James F. Crolly who died August 5, 2005.  The couple was married for 45 years.  Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late James and Concetta Magnotta DiBiasi.  She was a member of Nativity Of Our Lord Church.  She was an avid bingo player and loved crocheting.  She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed. 

Surviving are two daughters; Maria Tomachick and husband, Joseph, Scranton and Rochelle Crolly, Scranton, four grandchildren; Donna, Joseph, Michael and Robert, a brother Frank DiBiasi, Bethesda, MD., and two sisters; Rose Barone, Cherry Hill, NJ., and Mary Valvano, Scranton, also nieces and nephews. 

She was also preceeded in death by a brother Patrick.  The funeral will be Monday at 9 AM from the August J. Jennie E. Notari, 86, a Scranton Resident, died Tuesday evening , May 15, 2007, at home following a two year battle with cancer.  She was the widow of Achille Notari who died March 26, 1980.  Born in Dunmore on January 28, 1921,  she was the eldest of nine children of the late Michael and Mary Borzellino Azzarelli.  She attended school in Dunmore and had been employed at Lackawanna Pants Mfr. prior to her marriage and later in life served the lunch program at Whittier Elementary School. 

She was a member of St. Mary Of The Assumption Church.   The last twenty years was devoted to child care where she touched the lives of many children and their parents.  She will be deeply missed. 

She is survived by four children; sons Michael and wife Dolores, Moscow, John, Scranton, two daughters; Elisa Dunleavy and husband Richard, Scranton, Mary Rose Covert, Hughestown, and was a loving "Nana" to her granddaughter Elizabeth Covert.  Also surviving are three sisters; Rose Acquisto, Hazlet, N.J., Mary Cianci, Dunmore, Ann Pinto, Lake Ariel, two brothers; Frank, Las Vegas NV.; Sam, Olyphant and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceeded in death by three brothers; Vincent(Jim), Louis, Salvatore and son-in-law, Donald T. Covert. 

The funeral will be Saturday at 8:30 AM from the August J. She was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School and was a homemaker.  She was a member of Nativity Of Our Lord Church and it's Combined Society, Scranton Prep's Mother's Club and was a former member of IBEW Local 81 Ladies Auxiliary. 

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who will be dearly missed.  Also surviving are a daughter Ann E. Nealon, Scranton, two sons Joseph A. Nealon and wife Rose A., Pottsville and John R. Nealon and wife Maria, Archbald,three grandchildren Conor, Katie and Riley,  three sisters Gail A. Dwyer, Marion M. Poveramo, Scranton and Sheila M.      Mary L. Wargo, 80, of Scranton died Wednesday at VNA Hospice Unit at Moses Taylor Hospital.  She was the widow of John T. Wargo who died on September 16, 1995.

     Born in Scranton on June 25, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Julia Kalinich Hallinan.  She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and a member of Nativity of Our Lord Church.

     Mary was a cherished mother and grandmother who will be remembered always for her genuine warmth and kindness.  She worked at the library of Lackawanna College for forty years until taking leave in mid-February because of illness.  She valued the time she spent at the college and enjoyed working with the staff and students.

     Surviving are a daughter, Mary Lou Weidner and her husband, Steve, Broomall, PA, a son Jack and his wife Dorothy, Valley Village, CA, sons Richard and Edward, Scranton, three grand-daughters, Shanti, Vicki and Julia and two grandsons, Sean and Michael, as well as several nieces and nephews.

     She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, William and Edward Hallinan, who was killed in action in France during World War II.

She was a member of  St. Mary Of The Assumption Church and it's Altar and Rosary Society.  She was a graduate of Central High School and Lackawanna College.  She was a retired employee of The Globe Store and formerly worked for Consolidated Moulded Products and the American Heart Assn.  She was a loving mother and grandmother who cared deeply for her family. 

Surviving is a daughter Claire Ann Scheller and husband Robert, with whom she resided, two brothers; Paul Lantolf, Woodbury ,Ct. and Joseph Lantolf, Glennview, IL., seven grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She was also preceeded in death by a son John Uhl III.

Estelle R. Wynn

Estelle R. Wynn (nee Marx) of Willingboro, NJ, passed away on Monday April 9, 2007, at Lourdes Hospital in Willingboro.

Mrs. Wynn was born in Scranton, PA and had been a Willingboro resident for the past 43 years.  She worked at home raising her children, as well as working as a teacher’s aide for the Willingboro Public Schools, retiring in 1999.  Estelle was a parishioner of Corpus Christi RC Church in Willingboro, where she was also a member of various church organizations.

Mrs. Wynn is the widow of her late husband Donald J. Wynn.  She is the loving mother of Mary Ann and her husband Frank Armstrong of Palm Coast, FL, Kathleen Wynn of Willingboro, Donna and her husband John McAndrew of Pittston Twp., PA, and Patricia and her husband Bill Harris of Edgewater Park, NJ.  Estelle is the proud grandmother of Debbie, Michael, John, Katie, Amanda, and Matthew and great-grandmother of Shauna and Madison.  Mrs. Wynn is also survived and will be sadly missed by her brother Leonard Marx and her sister Sister Rosalie Marx.

Paul S. Amato , Altamonte Springs, FL., formerly of Scranton, died March 31, 2007.  His wife is the former Linda Barstow.  Born in Norristown, Pa., he was the son of the late Pellegrino and Paola Maria Truncale Amato. 

He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, was a WWll Navy Veteran, and retired from upper level management with General Mills in 1981.  Paul was a loving and spiritual human being, devoted and giving father and grandfather, wonderful husband and went to be with his Lord.  He lived his life with the highest standards in all he said and did with total dedication to helping others find the Lord. 

He  continued his dedication to helping people through his advice and counsel to many in the community by utilizing his wisdom of the management process of management by objectives.  " We do not have to rely on memories to recapture the spirit of those we have lost-they live within our souls in some perfect sanctuary, which even death cannot destroy." Nan Witcomb.  His spirit and soul will live on through all the people he has touched in his life. 

Also surviving are two sons, Ben Amato and wife, Doris, State College, Pa., Paul H. Amato, Cincinatti, Ohio, a daughter Paula Dawson and husband Richard, Sattelite Beach, FL. and 19 grandchildren, 18 greatgrandchildren and nieces and nephews. Also surviving are three stepsons, Bill Grant and wife Lucy, Apopka, FL., Mike Grant, Boston,Mass., Ralph Grant and wife Diane, Tampa, Fl.and a stepdaughter Linda Daigle and husband Rob, Valrico, Fl., a sister Theresa McGurrin, Buffalo, NY.. 

He was preceeded in death by his first wife Irene McDonald and his second wife Elizabeth Marker and an infant son Wayne, and by a sister Josephine White and two brothers Joseph and Charles.  The funeral will be Monday with a Blessing Service at 11AM in the August J. Arline L. Lambert, A Scranton resident, died Monday, March 19, 2007, in CMC after being stricken ill at home.  She was the loving wife of Robert Lambert.  The couple was married for 27 years. 

Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Arline Tomczak Tomko.  She was a graduate of Hanover High School, Class Of 1975.  She was a member of Nativity Of Our Lord Church, Scranton, and was a member of Nativity/Marian Catholic Parent's Assn. and Bishop Hannon High School Parent's Assn.  She loved her role as a Hockey Mom for her son who plays for the Pocono Pirates.  She made so many faithful friends and touched so many lives as her married life took her to New York, New Jersey, Conneticut, and Iowa, before returning to Northeastern Pa. 

In closing on the telephone with all her friends, her favorite line was " I love you so much, I can't wait to see you again."  In their grief, her family and friends echo that same sentiment.  Also surviving is a son Andrew, at home, four sisters: Patricia Mitkowski, and husband, Richard, Mountaintop, Marilyn Warke and husband, Richard, Ashley, Denise Irace and husband Richard, Luzerne and Ann Tomko and Fiancee, Dan Harrison, Wilkes-Barre, and a brother Leonard Tomko and wife Donna, Ashley.  Also there is one niece, three nephews, and all of her friend's children who she loved as her own, and lastly, her beloved pets.

She was preceeded in death by four sisters Margaret Gilroy, Agnes Monahan, Mary Padden, Rosemary Burke, and a brother Joseph Shannon.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother who loved to spend time with her family. She always made everyone simply feel better with her smile, family meant everything to her.

Celeste "Dolly" Cecci

Celeste "Dolly" Cecci, a South Scranton resident, died peacefully Friday, March 2, 2007, at Mercy Hospital after a long illness. She and her husbad Norando ( Norman ) Cecci would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary April 18th. Born March 24, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY., she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Michelina Silvestri Napolitano.

She was educated in Brooklyn schools. Prior to her marraige, she was employed by the Marine Insurance Company, NYC, and has been a resident of Scranton since 1953. A member of St. Francis Of Assisi Church and it's Altar and Rosary Society, she was a devout Catholic who enjoyed viewing the daily Mass on TV. Dolly most enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a wonderful homemaker and especially loved cooking large family dinners and holiday baking. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and sister who is so very much loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her and appreciated her gentle heart and courageous spirit in her lengthy battle with diabetes.

The family would like to thank the physicians, nurses and staff at Mercy Hospital, the Special Care Unit and DaVita Dialysis for the kindness and compassionate care shown to our mother during her illness.

Dorothea LaHilda Messina, 90, a resident of Scranton, died Thursday, March 1, 2007 in Moses Taylor Hospital. She was the widow of Charles Messina. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late James and Carrie Beecham Abbott.

She was formerly employed at Haddon Craftsmen. She was a member of St. Lukes Episcopal Church. She spent her life surrounded by her loving family and considered them her life's blessing.

Surviving are three sons Sal and wife Lorie, Hartsfield, VA., James and wife Sylvia, Scranton, Charles and wife Carole, Waldorf, MD., a daughter Teresina Lyman and husband, Dennis, Daytona Beech, FL.. Also a sister Edna Shafer and husband, Bob, Deptford, NJ., and 12 grandchildren, seventeen greatgrandchildren and two great greatgrandchildren. She was also preceeded in death by a brother James Abbott and a half sister Violet Rullis.

The funeral will be Monday at 12:30 PM from the August J. Haas Funeral Home, Inc. 202 Pittston Ave. with services at 1 PM in St Luke's Church with The Rev. Peter D. Wynne M. Pastellak

Wynne M. Pastellak, 72, of Bethlehem, formerly of Scranton and Cherry Hill, NJ., died Sunday, February 11, 2007 in St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem.  She was the wife of Thomas Pastellak and the couple was married 43 years.  Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Helen Gauhan Robinson. 

She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and before moving to Cherry Hill with her husband, she was employed locally by the former Cicotti-McHale Jewelry Store and Capitol Records.  She was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Cherry Hill.  She was a loving wife and mother who left us too soon.  She will be dearly missed. 

Also surviving are two daughters Tara Marie Pastellak, Martinsburg, WV. and Tricia Lynn Pastellak, Cherry Hill, NJ.  Also two brothers, Fran Robinson, Newtown Square, Pa. and Jack Robinson, Chambersburg, Pa. and two sisters Deloris Siock and Mary Ellen Robinson, both of Scranton and nieces and nephews.  She was preceeded in death by a daughter, Traci Ann Pastellak.

Fred (Dago) Tomarelli

Fred (Dago) Tomarelli, 87, a South Scranton resident, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, in VNA Hospice at Moses Taylor Hospital.  Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late William and Anna Pillotti Tomarelli. 

He was a member of St. Francis Of Assisi Church.  He was a retired self employed house painter.  He was an Army veteran of WWll and was a member of the Dante Literary Society.  He was a loving brother who was kind hearted and wonderful to his nieces and nephews.  Surviving is a sister Tillie Tomarelli, with whom he resided and two brothers Mario(Marty) and Gino, both of Scranton, and nieces and nephews. 

 He was preceeded in death by four brothers Primo, Frank, William(Chick) and Joseph, who was killed in WWll, and three sisters Esther Constantini, Mary Damore and Anita Gayton. 

The funeral will be Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at 9 AM from the August J. Richard P. Hamm

Richard P. Hamm, 15, a West Scranton resident, died Thursday, January 18, 2006, at home.  Born in Scranton, he was the son of Amy McBride, with whom he resided and Howard Hamm, Scranton. 

He was an 8th grade student at West Intermediate School.  He loved all sports, playing pool and cards, hunting, fishing and just hanging out with his friends.  He was a loving son, grandson and brother who will be deeply missed. 

Also surviving is a sister Elizabeth Hamm,  Scranton, a niece Axaria Belcher, Maternal grandparents Ruth McBride and Jimbo Terry, Canton, Paternal grandmother Beverly Jean Hamm, Troy, and aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was preceeded in death by his paternal grandfather Howard Hamm.

Olive Dezenzo, 83, a resident of Taylor, died Saturday, January 13, 2007, after a long illness.  She was the widow of Thomas J. Dezenzo who died in 1974.  Born in Starbuck, MN. She was the daughter of the late Emil and Edna Einarson Steen. 

She was a member of Nativity Of Our Lord Church.  She was employed as a waitress for many years in New Jersey.  She was greatly loved by her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. 

Surviving are three daughters, Lucille Keuhner, with whom she resided, Patricia Girgenti, Scranton and Susan Amato, Union, NJ.  and two sons Peter of Scranton and Thomas, Cliffwood Beach, NJ.  Also surviving are two sisters Ida and Clarice, both of MN., and 16 grandchildren and 16 greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She was also preceeded in death by a daughter Nancy Blewitt and a granddaughter, Diane. 

The family wishes to send special thanks to Dr. James McKenna for all his care.  The funeral will be Wednesday at 9AM from the August J. Margaret " Peg " Robinson

Margaret " Peg " Robinson, 94, a South Scranton resident, died Sunday evening, December 30, 2007, in Mercy Hospital after being stricken ill at home.  She was the widow of John ( Jack ) Robinson who died in 1960.  Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late John and Bessie Murray Kennedy.  She was a member of Nativity Of Our Lord Church.  While raising their family, she and her husband lived in Binghamton, NY.  She and Maureen returned to Scranton in 1961 after the death of her husband.  She was formerly employed as a secretary at Marywood Seminary and retired from Lackawanna County. 

Surviving are two daughters Maureen Robinson, with whom she resided and Margaret Robinson, Johnson City, NY. and nieces and nephews.  She was also preceeded in death by a sister Mary Gillern and four brothers Msgr. Michael Kennedy, and Martin, John ( Chick ), and Joseph Kennedy. 

The funeral will be Saturday at 9 AM from the August J. Haas Funeral Home, Inc., 202 Pittston Ave., with Mass at 9:30 AM in Nativity Of Our Lord Church to be celebrated by Msgr. Ann L. Musewicz, 84, a South Scranton resident, died Thursday evening, December 27, 2007, in Ascera Care Hospice, Peckville.  She was the widow of Vincent J. Musewicz who died Nov. 11, 1987.  Born in Dayton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Louise Brown Murray.  She was a member of Nativity Of Our Lord Church and formerly was employed by the Scranton Electric Co. 

Surviving are five sons: Thomas Musewicz and wife Suellen, Scranton, Vincent Musewicz and wife Diane, Scranton, Joseph Musewicz, Scranton, John Musewicz and wife Gail, Throop, and Michael Musewicz with whom she resided, and a daughter Mary Bradford and husband William, Bethlehem.   Also a sister Ruth Edmunds, Scranton. Also Grandchildren; Maggie, Sarah, Matthew, Jonathon Musewicz and Julie Grocki and husband Chester, Maria VanNorman and husband Ryan,Kim O'Connor and Husband S/Sgt. Sean, Scott Musewicz and wife Erin,Christopher and Nicole Poplawski, Emily, Robert and Maggie Bradford, and greatgrandchildren Tyler O'Connor, Kylie, MiKayla and Carter Musewicz and Jackson VanNorman.  Also nieces, nephews and close friends she considered family Sheila and Tom Kohut and daughter Emily. She was also preceeded in death by a sister Winifred Emmel.

Lucy Sgobba

Lucy Sgobba, 93, a Scranton resident, died Christmas Day at Allied Skilled Nursing Facility.  She was preceeded in death by her husband, Leo Sgobba on January 29, 1986.  Born May 20, 1914 in Dickson City, she was the daughter of the late Sabato and Josephine Stefan Panulla.  She was a member of St. Francis Of Assisi Church and it's Altar and Rosary Society.  Prior to her retirement she was the owner of Sgobba's Market in South Scranton.  Her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren were the most important part of her life.  She lived each day for them.  She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. The family would like to thank the staff at Allied for their kindness and time spent taking care of her. 

Surviving is a son John Sgobba and wife Helen, Avoca, four grandchildren:Mark J. Sgobba and wife Lisa, Lenny Sgobba and wife Michelle, Lisa White and husband Randy and Lori Pellegrino and husband Evan, two greatgrandchildren: Mark Sgobba and wife Dominique and Justin White and wife Kara.  Also surviving is a sister Josie Luclanchuk, Olyphant and nieces and nephews.  She was also preceeded in death by a sister Mae Bonick and seven brothers Phil, Alfonzo, Patsy, Joe, Max, Jimmy and John Panulla.

Held, 97, a former South Scranton resident, died Thursday December 20, 2007, in Southern Ocean City Hospital, Manahawkin, NJ.  She was the widow of Alfred Held and the couple was married for 67 years.  Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Mathilda Martin Fisch.  She was a former member of St. Mary Of The Assumption Church and was a vice president of the Altar and Rosary Society.  She was presently a member of Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel Church, Berlin, NJ.  While residing in Scranton, she was formerly employed by Scranton Electric Co., Scranton Dry Goods and George's Lunch. 

Surviving is a son John Held, Pennsauken, NJ., and seven grandchildren: Lisa Swantek, with whom she resided and Scott Held, Tracy Hofmann, Lynn Angelo, Laurie Kloiber, Steven and Shawn Jones.  also 9 greatgrandchildren and one great great granddaughter and nieces and nephews.  She was also preceeded in death by a daughter Dorothy Jones and a brother Paul Martin.

Lois M. Palko, 77, a South Scranton resident, died Monday, December 24, 2007 in Mercy Hospital.  She was the widow of Albert J. Palko who died April 3, 2002 and the couple was married for 51 years.  Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Theresa Scheller Zenke.  She was a member of Nativity Of Our  Lord Church  and was a volunteer at the Nativity School Lunch Program.  In her younger years she was active in the Catholic Daughters church organization of St. Mary of The Assumption Church.  She was a retired employee of Casual Sportswear and was an avid bunny figurine collector.  Family and friends were the most important things in her life.

  Surviving are two sons Randy Palko and wife Ann, Peckville and Gregory at home, three daughters Andrea Kanuik and husband William, Olyphant, Beth Nihen and husband Chick, and Lori Conniff and husband Scott, all of Scranton, five grandchildren David and Christy Nihen and Christopher, Brandon and Erica Conniff, two sisters Mary Dovan, Fairport, NY and JoAnn Chase, Scranton and nieces and nephews.  She was also preceeded in death by a son Jeffery.  The funeral will be Saturday at 9 AM from the August J. Laura Kays Hamilton, 41, a Scranton resident, died Thursday December 20, 2007 in CMC shortly after being admitted.  Born in Scranton, she is the daughter of William and Linda Wilfong Kays, Scranton.  She was educated in Scranton Schools and attended Marywood University.  A homemaker, Laura will be remembered for her kindness and her generosity. 

Also surviving are her children Michael Galli, Brianna Galli and Elyssa Hamilton and Thomas Hamilton, all at home.  Also two brothers Brian Kays and wife Cindy, Virginia Beach, VA. and Christopher Kays and wife Lori, Scranton, and four nephews.  Also Aunts and Uncles survive.  She was preceeded in death by her Maternal Grandparents Richard and Sonora Meng Wilfong and her Paternal Grandparents William and Dorothy Dolan Kays. 

A celebration of Laura"s life will be held on January 5, 2008, at 7:30 PM in Asbury Methodist Church officiating will be Rev. Dr. Mary Jane Hitt.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Providence United Presbyterian Church, 827 Woodlawn Ave. 18509

Kich, a South Scranton resident, died Tuesday, December 18, 2007 in Mercy Hospice.  She was the widow of George Kich who died July 7, 1978.  Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth Grill Poskonski.  She was a member of St. Mary Of The Assumption Church and was a graduate of St. Mary's High School.  She was a retired employee of Costa's Drugs.  She was involved with the Senior Craftsmen Center and she enjoyed knitting, crochetting and gardening.  She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed. 

Surviving are three sons Michael Kich and wife Susan and David Kich and wife Judy, all of Scranton and Martin Kich and wife Sandra , Lima, Ohio, a daughter Elizabeth Kich, Scranton. Also five grandchildren Shannon Lewis, Nicholas Kich, Michael Kich, Alison Kich and Dylan Davis and two greatgrandchildren Gage Lewis and Austin Lewis and nieces and nephews.  She was also preceeded in death by a brother Joseph Poskonski and two sisters Margaret Poskonski and Dorothy Thrapp.

Savitsky, 78, A South Scranton resident, died Thursday, December 20, 2007 in Mountain Rest Nursing Home.  Born in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Adolf and Catherine Sowinski Savitsky.  She was a member of Sacred Heart's Church and was a retired employee of Bona Fashions.  She enjoyed dancing, sewing and gardening.  She was a loving mother and grandmother who shared her wisdom with her family.

Cobb and two sons Paul Smith, Scranton and John Smith and wife Michelle, Throop, a brother Anthony Savitsky, Scranton and a sister Florence Yorkanis, Englishtown, NJ. , a sister-in-law Helen Savitsky, Scranton and a granddaughter Maryann Smith, and nieces and nephews.   She was also preceeded in death by a brother Joseph Savitsky.

Christine Dorio Dudzinski, 78, a South Scranton resident, died Wednesday, December 12, 2007, at home after an illness.  She was the wife of Walter Dudzinski and the couple was married for 54 years.  Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Grace Salamido Dorio.  She was a member of St. Francis Of Assisi Church and it's Altar and Rosary Society.  She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and was a member of it's Class Reunion Committee since the 25th anniversary.  She was formerly employed at Pricci's market for many years.  She was a member of the Zonta Club, Lackawanna Council 17, Pokeno Club, and the Young At Heart Club. 

Also surviving are three sisters; Pauline Long and Theresa Haefele, Scranton and Rose Sarcinelli, Vienna, VA., a brother Martin Dorio, Scranton and nieces and nephews.  She was also preceeded in death by four sisters; Josephine Dorio, Margaret Marseco, Marianne Ceresko and Mary Moran.  The family extends a sincere thank you to Heartland Hospice and especially to Cheri, Cindy, Erin, Nicole, Chris and Michele for their kindness, caring and support.
